Hi, I am Melissa Tancredi.  Thanks for coming to my website, I appreciate that.  Explore.  Learn.  Meet Me.

THE EARLY YEARS AND HIGH SCHOOL

Born on December 27, 1981 in Hamilton, Ontario, Melissa seemed to enter the world with an innate love for soccer.  She began playing the game at age four.  Melissa continued in her beloved sport throughout her school years.  She got the nickname TANK at age 13.

At Cathedral High School in Hamilton, Melissa was a star soccer player, but also played volleyball and ran on the track team.  As a senior in high school, Melissa was named both Senior Athlete of the Year and MVP of the soccer team.

PROVINCIAL SOCCER AND NOTRE DAME

After high school, Melissa joined the Burlington Sting's U-19 Provincial team.  She assisted the Burlington Sting with winning the Ontario Cup and she was MVP of the team in 1999.

Melissa began her studies in Anthropology at the University of Notre Dame in 2000.  She was unable to play soccer during her freshman year due to an injury and received a medical redshirt from the NCAA.  However, the next year, she returned in full form.  In 2003, she received multiple accolades and recognition for her performance with the Fighting Irish.

Melissa, as a fifth year senior at Notre Dame was named an Irish Tri-Captain in 2004 and helped lead the team to the NCAA National Championship.  She was recognized in 2004 as a First Team All American and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.

POST COLLEGIATE

Knowing that soccer would not be something that can last forever, Melissa made it a point to start to put the tools of her degree from Notre Dame into action and start to figure out what would be next at the end of the soccer journey that she could put as much vigor in as her on the field play.

Her degree in pre-medicine / pre-medical studies really lent to what was going to happen next but the field of study that she would go to would be the next challenge.

At the same time, Melissa played for multiple teams between 2004 - 2012 in the W-League, WPS, Europe and ultimately after post-grad school in the NWSL.

Following the 2012 Summer Olympics, Melissa decided to go to Logan School of Chiropractic in St Louis, Missouri and earned 2 degrees.  She graduated from Logan in the Spring of 2014.

During the 2015 season, Melissa split time between Vancouver where the Canadian Women's National Team has been centralized for training for the FIFA Women's World Cup and Chicago where she played for the Red Stars.

In 2016, Melissa is playing in Sweden for Orebro FC who is qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
